Pune based entrepreneur & Civil Rights Activist Prafful Sarda, had filed an RTI application with Department of Pensions & Pensioners Welfare,  it’s been transferred to Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority.

The RTI filed on following issues:

1) How many accounts are opened under this scheme? ( Pan India)
2) How much money is deposited under Atal Pension Yojna.
3) Government contribution to these accounts.

Finance minister Arun Jaitley mentioned “Atal Pension Yojna” in 2015 budget speech & Prime-Minister Narendra Modi formally launched on 9th May 2015 in Kolkata.

RTI Reply Till 2nd May 2017 total of 51.33 lac subscribers have been registered under Atal Pension Yojna and Rs.1883.93 Cr have been deposited under Atal Pension Yojna. And Government of India has contribution in the year 2015-16 is Rs. 105.46 cr to all the subscribers under Atal Pension Yojna as a co-contribution.

“It’s good to know many people have invested in Atal Pension Yojna.  Though the numbers are less so far but expecting it to grow as awareness will increase in coming few years. My RTI clearly says Government also contributed to subscribers account in year 2015-16. I must say Modi Government introduced many beneficial scheme and people are taking benefits from it, Said RTI activist Prafful Sarda”.
