I filed an RTI on 27th July 2016 with (National Crime Records Bureau) Ministry of Home Affairs on following issues.
1) How many rape cases have registered in India ( Pan India ) from Jan 2014 to July 2016?
2) How many people have found guilty in those cases?
3) what action taken against people who have found guilty in these cases.
There is no record available after 2014 and yet to get updated onwww.NCRB.gov.in which shows how many rape cases have registered from Jan 2014 to July 2016.
The data is only available until 2014. which is very surprising. one side Hon. Prime Minister Narendraji Modi says we are taking all the possible steps about women safety and despite that, there are so many incidents happened like ” Nirbhaya” Even recent rape case in Maharashtra was another wakeup call on women safety in worlds largest democratic country. Prafful Sarda, owner of an Event management company & RTI Activist had filed an RTI application with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry has said in the RTI reply that no such data maintained after 2014. And till 2014 all over India more than 36735 rape cases have registered and 36975 people were a victim in these cases.
160123 people were on trial during the year. These number also include the women who found guilty of these crimes.
